Connect your assistant

Connecting takes about two minutes. You need a CompSlate workspace first: start one free (it's free up to 3 people, no card). Then add this URL to your assistant and sign in with the same email:

We’re working on getting CompSlate listed in Claude’s and ChatGPT’s app directories. Once it is, connecting is one click from inside your assistant; until then, add it with the URL as shown here.

Claude (web, desktop, mobile)

  1. On claude.ai or in Claude Desktop, open Customize → Connectors (claude.ai/customize/connectors), click + and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it CompSlate, paste https://compslate.com/mcp and click Add.
  3. Click Connect and sign in with the email link CompSlate sends you.
  4. In a chat, click + at the bottom left → Connectors and switch CompSlate on.

Works on Free (one custom connector), Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Add it once on the web or desktop; it then works in the Claude mobile app too. On Team and Enterprise an owner adds it first under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web; then everyone clicks Connect under Customize → Connectors.

ChatGPT (chatgpt.com)

  1. Turn on developer mode: Settings → Security and login → Developer mode (on some accounts the switch is at the bottom of Settings → Plugins).
  2. Open Settings → Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins) and click +. Name it CompSlate, paste https://compslate.com/mcp as the server URL, keep OAuth and create it.
  3. Sign in with the email link CompSlate sends you.
  4. Start a new chat, open the + (tools) menu and add CompSlate, or type @CompSlate.

ChatGPT needs Plus or higher, and CompSlate works in chats on chatgpt.com in a browser (not the mobile app yet). In the ChatGPT desktop app, add it to Codex instead (below). ChatGPT labels anything added by URL as developer mode and shows a warning; that's expected. On Business and Enterprise an admin may have to allow custom connectors first. ChatGPT asks you to confirm each change before it runs. After CompSlate updates, open it in Settings → Plugins and click Refresh to load new tools.

Codex (in the ChatGPT desktop app)

  1. Open Plugins, click the gear (Manage) → MCPs → Add at the top → Add MCP server.
  2. Name it CompSlate, choose Streamable HTTP, paste https://compslate.com/mcp as the URL and leave the token and header fields empty.
  3. Save, click Authenticate and sign in with the email link CompSlate sends you.
  4. In a Codex task, start with "Use compslate:", for example "Use compslate: what's in my workspace?"

This adds CompSlate to Codex tasks, not to regular ChatGPT chats (for those, use chatgpt.com).

Claude Code

  1. Run claude mcp add --transport http compslate https://compslate.com/mcp
  2. Start Claude Code, run /mcp, choose compslate and sign in.

Anything else that speaks MCP

  1. Use https://compslate.com/mcp with the Streamable HTTP transport.
  2. Sign-in is standard OAuth 2.1 (dynamic client registration or client ID metadata documents), discovered automatically.

Your first message

Start with "What's in my workspace?" Your assistant calls CompSlate and shows your plans, people and what to do next. Then just say what you want:

  • "Set up a 60/40 quarterly plan with a 3-month ramp, OTE $150k, quota $600k."
  • "Add Ana (ana@acme.com), AE, starting October 1, on that plan."
  • "Record these deals:" and paste a list or a CSV from your CRM.
  • "How is the team doing this quarter?"

Anything that changes someone's pay is shown to you as a preview first and only saved when you say yes. The quick start walks through a full setup with screenshots.

Pick a fast model. CompSlate does the math, so your assistant only has to understand the request and call the right tool. A fast model answers in seconds; extended-thinking or research modes only make it slower. If the assistant doesn't use CompSlate on its own, start your message with "Use CompSlate:".

If something doesn't work

  • No sign-in email. Check spam, and Promotions in Gmail. The link works once and expires after 20 minutes; ask for a new one. Sign-in emails only go to addresses that have a workspace or an invitation: start a workspace first.
  • An error while connecting. Remove the connector and add it again. Check the URL is exactly https://compslate.com/mcp, with no spaces.
  • Claude's free plan says you're at the limit. Free Claude accounts get one custom connector. Remove the other one, or use Pro or above.
  • Claude Team or Enterprise. An owner has to add CompSlate for the organization first (see the note under Claude above).
  • ChatGPT has no developer mode or no + on the Plugins page. ChatGPT needs Plus or higher. On Business and Enterprise, ask your admin to allow custom connectors.
  • The assistant answers without using CompSlate. Make sure it's switched on in this chat (Claude: + → Connectors; ChatGPT: the + tools menu), or say "use CompSlate".
  • A tool seems to be missing, or it says the connection is out of date. ChatGPT: Settings → Plugins → CompSlate → Refresh, then start a new chat. Claude: start a new chat; if that doesn't help, disconnect and connect again.
  • You're in the wrong workspace, or signed in with the wrong email. Disconnect CompSlate in your assistant, connect again and sign in with the right email.
  • "Only workspace admins can make changes." You're signed in as a rep or manager. An admin can change that: "Make Sam an admin."
  • "No free seat yet." The workspace is using all its seats. An admin frees one (give someone who left an end date) or upgrades in the web app.

For reps and managers

You don't need an AI assistant. Once your admin adds you with your email, sign in with it to see your comp card, how pay works, your statements and, for managers, your team. If you do use Claude or ChatGPT, connect the same way and ask "How am I tracking this quarter?": you only ever see your own numbers (and your team's, if you manage one).
